When purchasing from another individual, standard consumer protections are limited. Key rights such as the ability to cancel your order (Regulation 29(1)) and to reject goods (Section 20) do not apply. In transactions between private individuals, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are significantly reduced. This includes the exclusion of requirements that goods be of satisfactory quality (Section 9) or suitable for a particular purpose (Section 10). Items sold by private sellers may have defects, and as long as such issues are clearly described or visible in photos, no claim can be made.
